Weddingbells Mag!

10 Jul

Well, it’s official! The new issue of Weddingbells is now out there in the world floating around with my name in it!  SWEET!  And while I don’t have a byline, just knowing that all of those pages that I fact checked and spell checked are in there is so completely awesome! I also feel very priviledged to have my name in this issue since it’s the issue in which our editor-in-cheif (who’s been with Weddingbells for quite a long time now) got married! So if any of you are thinking that you might want to someday get married and maybe want to have something on hand for inspiration when that time comes, then you should definitely go out and buy the new issue! lol. Just kidding. But if you want, you should at least check out the Weddingbells website where I do have a byline.

p.s. for all those who read the title and thought I was engaged – suckers! lol (sorry).

My Kingdom for an Internship!

30 Apr

After months and months of searching and preparation I have finally landed myself a fabulous internship – if I do say so myself! I am currently working as an editorial intern at Weddingbells magazine! YAY! First of all, the job is awesome because the entire staff are a bunch of incredibly fun and brilliant people. Second, I basically get to look at wedding dresses, cakes, flowers and lots of other girly, pretty things ALL DAY LONG!! It’s almost like being in heaven. Almost.

I know that now that I’m working here the boyfriend is worried that I’ll start planning our wedding. I dunno what he’s worried about, pretty sure I’ve been planning our wedding since I found out he had a crush on me. In all seriousness though, working here is not going to make me want to get married any faster than not working here would. Some girls (like myself) just enjoy thinking about their future wedding because there are so many fun, realy really girly fun aspects that you get to plan when your putting together a wedding. Like, when else are you allowed to try on dresses worth thousands of dollars while you prance around with a giant diamond on your finger?? I mean, when else do you get to do that when you’re not Paris Hilton?? And let’s face it, as wonderful as being rich and famous for being rich and famous is I would not wish to be Paris Hilton. Sorry Paris.

Anyways, getting back to the internship. I’m hoping that by the time I’m done here not only will I be a much better and more confident writer than I am now, but I also hope that sitting down the hall from Fashion Magazine, some really cute, stylish person will take pity on me and make me really cute and stylish too!

I know, I know, but a girl can dream can’t she?

Spa Scandal

25 Feb

PJT-Sung-2 .jpgI came home today with the intention of writing an updated post about what happened at Jung spa but apparently everybody already knows! For those of you who were asking, On the Danforth, our publication, had not yet been sent to print so we were fortunately able to pull the article that was to be published about Jung and its owner Julia Sung. Also, I unfortunately cannot pass along any information about Julia Sung as I was not the one who interviewed her for the article. Sadly, I only shook hands with her at the opening – so I have no gossip. But can you imagine if OTD had gone to print last week!!?? YIKES! We would have had to rip the article out by hand! lol – just kidding. But really, how do you not realize that purchasing thousands of dollars on expensive spa equipment with stolen credit cards would be leaving a huge paper trail right to your front door?? Like seriously.

Anyways, for those of you who hadn’t heard, it turns out that the owner of Jung spa (whose launch party I attended and wrote about only a couple weeks ago) funded her business with stolen credit cards and is now in jail with four others. Combined they are facing 140 counts of fraud.

Check it out:

NationalPost-Article

There will be an updated version of the story that was originally to appear in OTD on our web page. www.onthedanforth.ca so please also check that out when it arrives!

Lastly, there was an article in the Toronto Star today about what happened at Jung Spa. They also interviewed Cindy (who originally interviewed her) for it. There is also a picture included that was taken by our very own Jen M!

Launch Partay!

12 Feb

This past Saturday night I attended my first launch party ever! It was for Jung Spa which just opened up on Danforth Ave here in Toronto. The spa is gorgeous and the owner, Julia Sung, was an incredible hostess. The launch party itself was just as I had imagined it would be. Wine, cheese, music and lots of gorgeous people in gorgeous designer clothes. So, why did I get to go to this cool event?? My publishing class is producing a magazine called On the Danforth – a community magazine which features local businesses, personalities, and community events. Not only do we distribute it to homes in the area, but we also give it out during Taste of the Danforth. It’s also free which means that not only is it super cool, but it’s pretty freakin’ awesome! But back to the launch party. . . Cindy (an excellent writer and a good friend) wrote a profile on Julia Sung which is going to appear in our Summer issue of OTD. So she, me, the Sales Director Ross and Sales Personality Thomas got our glam on and met at Jung Spa for some much desired Schmoozing. Needless to say we definitely rocked the place! But alas launch parties cannot last forever, so after we had impressed everyone with our incredible schmoozing skills, we mosied on down to the Court Jester for some drinks and snacks before calling it a night.
